As an Education officer, you will have various positions available to you. Your primary responsibilities will be the academic aspects of all the training and education for officers and ratings. Particular subject areas that are instructed include mathematics, physics, electronics, electrotechnology and communication skills.
If you are posted to the Navy’s Academic School, you will be responsible for teaching the academic content of courses. While the primary objective is to meet Naval training requirements, the opportunity is also taken to provide training for our personnel towards related trade qualifications and unit standards under the NQF.
Your initial remuneration will be based on previous experience and skill level. This is negotiated on a case by case basis. As your career continues, remuneration will increase on promotion and seniority.
To become an Education Officer in the Royal New Zealand Navy you will need to already be a professionally qualified Secondary School Teacher or Polytechnic Tutor.
Upon successful enlistment into the Navy you’ll be posted to Devonport Navy base in Auckland. Here you willl do 22 weeks of officer military training course to find out if you’ve got what it takes to become leaders in the Navy, and learn various subjects including:
