The first stage is the assessment of your potential suitability for employment by the NZDF. We will ask you to complete an online Registration of Interest (ROI) form requesting detailed information on your military career, skills, experience and qualifications. Once we receive this information it will be screened for suitability by our recruitment team and our career management team. If your skills and experience are potentially suitable and we have vacancies, you will be invited to commence the full selection process.
We will ask you to:
Your dedicated Candidate Coordinator and our career management team will assess this documentation. If we believe there is still potential to employ you, you will be invited to attend a formal interview at your local High Commission.
The interview is to assess your personality, motivation, determination, commitment, and overall suitability to join the New Zealand Defence Force and live in New Zealand. Your wife, husband or partner (if applicable) is strongly encouraged to attend the interview as well.
On completion of the interview a report will be sent to our career management team for final assessment. The career management team will likely sought comment from trade or branch specialists to help facilitate the decision making process. If you are deemed suitable for employment you will be sent an Offer of Service, which will facilitate your New Zealand Immigration application.
The Offer will include the specific details of your employment and is subject on you:
Once you have met all the required criteria and have been released from all of your home service obligations you will be eligible to be enlisted into the NZDF.
Please note that the NZ Army gives a Provisional Offer Of Service, followed by a Final Offer Of Service. RNZN and RNZAF give one offer of service.
